Activities

Border Ecosse Car Club is one of the Motor Sport Association’s approved motor clubs in the Borders area with the means to enable you to participate in the Motorsport Activity of your choice

Border Ecosse Car Club Navigational Rallies

NAVIGATIONAL
RALLIES

are run on public roads during the hours of darkness where navigational skills are the order of the day, not speed!

Run at the average speed of 30mph, these rallies usually take in a route of some 60 -70 miles.
It is an ideal and inexpensive way of entering motorsport using your own road car.
There is a novice section with basic map reading and clues for the first timer, and free tuition is available.
If you wish, you can enter the many regional championships, or just compete for the fun of it.

AUTOTESTS
give everyone another chance to enjoy a motorsport activity, at very little cost, using their normal road car.

These simple tests usually take place on spacious tarmac or grass areas where car driving skills come to the fore.
Timed to the second, these driving tests are tight, great fun and risk free.
The club run the tests as part of their own Autotest and Club Championship.

AUTOCROSS
is basically racing on a grass or stubble field circuit against the clock, which produces some fast and very exciting motorsport.

BECC have staged a round of the ever-popular
ANECCC North-East Autocross Championship
for more years than we care to remember and produced a few worthy champions of our own along the way. Over the past eight years, the club have successfully promoted their own well subscribed
Borders Autocross Championship.
This event consists of 8 rounds (see diary) staged at various locations in the Borders and North East of England and we are grateful for the continued support from
Border High Performance of Norham

Border Ecosse Car Club Stage Rallies

STAGE RALLIES
specially prepared cars compete in classes based on engine size, on surfaced or ‘loose’ roads in several timed stages, and the crew with the least time penalties on finishing wins.

BECC promote two special stage rallies annually.
Charterhall Stages is a single venue rally set on the old wartime airfield and former racing circuit, Charterhall.
Supported by PJ Plant Hire of St. Boswells, this event is always a great day out whether you’re competing or spectating.
The second is the
Jim Clark Rally
a round of the MSA British Rally Championship
and the
Hankook Scottish Rally Championship.
This closed public road event, the first to be staged on mainland Britain, is jointly organised with our close neighbours
Berwick & District Motor Club.

Border Ecosse Car Club Rally Championship

These events are composed of a specified number of rounds, each of which is held at a different venue. Each round consists of several stages as in the Stage Rallies above.

Border Ecosse promote the Borders Rally Championship.
This highly popular series is made up of a Forest Cup with 7 rounds, an Asphalt Challenge with 8 rounds and a Junior section with 7 rounds made up of 4 tar and 3 gravel events. It draws a fair number of competitors from all parts of Scotland and the North East of England.
